Dental Hygiene

Dental-Hygiene-Tulsa-OK Dental Hygiene is very important to keep both your teeth and your body healthy. Not only does brushing your teeth and flossing help keep your teeth clean and breath fresh, it also prevents bacteria in your mouth from entering your body and making you sick. A significant part of Dental Hygiene is going to the dentist on a regular basis to check for cavities, keep your gums healthy and remove the plaque from your teeth.

The Importance of Dental Hygiene

Dentists are trained to keep your teeth healthy and clean. They can test for diseases that may occur in your mouth, and can help prevent them. Dentists also fill cavities. Practicing proper Dental Hygiene on your own requires brushing your teeth at least twice a day. Flossing will also keep your teeth clean and help remove plaque and bacteria from the places that your toothbrush can’t reach. Many people also use mouthwash to get a complete feeling of clean in their mouth. Most mouthwashes can clean your entire mouth and rid your mouth of bacteria that may cause illness or disease in your teeth.

Drs. Katie and Matthew Warlick understand that going to the dentist can be a scary thing, but he promises to be as gentle as possible, and calm all of your fears. He will start each exam by taking a family history and speaking with you about your dental history. Dr. Warlick will also ask if you have had any pain or any problems with any of your teeth. Afterwards, your teeth will be cleaned by one of our trained dental hygienists. You may get x-rays taken in order to search for cavities and see the placement of your teeth. Finally, Dr. Warlick will perform one last check of your teeth, search for cavities and speak with you about properly cleaning your teeth and the importance of Dental Hygiene. Overall, your dental visit should be a pleasant experience that takes around half an hour.
